Art is Healing
The 2025 Art is Healing exhibit closes this month. Our patients and staff have deeply appreciated the beautiful exhibit full of incredible artwork created by local artists around the theme of healing.
If you would like to support the exhibit and help to provide our patients with permanent access to healing art from local artists, it’s not too late!
The unsold work in the exhibit is still available to purchase as a donation to the health center’s permanent collection.
Donations of art are fully tax deductible, and will be displayed in our healing spaces with a koa plaque honoring the donor.

About Art is Healing
Art has long been recognized for its power to connect individuals of different backgrounds and experiences, by sharing our stories; building empathy, compassion, and respect for one another. Every year, Hawai’i Island Community Health Center welcomes submissions by local artists for our annual juried exhibit.
A feature of Art Is Healing that sets it apart from other exhibitions is that the artwork that is purchased from the show is donated to HICHC to become part of our permanent art collection, displayed throughout our health centers for patients, visitors, and staff to enjoy. By bringing the visual arts into the healing process, we hope that those who walk through our doors experience a greater connection to one another and to our community.

The Terri Toki Memorial Art Fund
The Terri Toki Memorial Fund honors the legacy of Terri Toki, a proud Hawai‘i Island Community Health Center board member and a passionate advocate and donor for the Art is Healing fundraiser.
Terri served on the Board of Directors for over a decade, and each year she personally selected art to donate to the health center’s patients through the Art is Healing exhibit.
Over the years, Terri’s donations filled our health centers with incredible local art. Her many donations now serve as a lasting legacy throughout our health centers.
Terri believed deeply in the power of a beautiful and healing environment for our patients. Her dedication to integrating art into healing spaces was instrumental in shaping this event, making it only fitting that we dedicate this fund—formerly known as the Art Fund—in her memory.
Your donation to the Terri Toki Memorial Fund directly supports the purchase of artwork from this year’s Art is Healing event. With your generosity, Terri’s vision continues to thrive, bringing comfort, healing, and cultural connection to our community.
