Our communities island-wide are just beginning to recover from the impacts of Hurricane Lala.
Our Nāʻālehu health center has been severely impacted and will require full remediation, but our commitment to Kaʻū and our patients has not changed.
We are working to restore access to care as quickly as possible, including launching mobile services from our Kaʻū health center parking lot and reopening our Ocean View mobile unit, even without power. Many of our own staff live in the communities hardest hit and are navigating the storm’s impacts alongside the patients they serve.

- 8/19/26:
- Pāhoa Family Health and Pāhoa Women’s & Keiki have reopened!
- Ocean View Mobile Health location at St Jude’s Episcopal Church has reopened – with an additional mobile clinic and free community resources on-site for recovery.
- School Based Locations have reopened
- Site visit today in Nāʻālehu to assess damage and prepare for on-site mobile services for the community.
- 8/18/26:
- Most health centers have reopened, and minor damages are being repaired. Exceptions are Pāhoa (no power), Nāʻālehu (significant flood damage, no power), and School Based locations.
